Introduction and Welcome!

Once again, New Albany - Plain Local Schools is happy to present the Central Ohio Technology and Learning Summit

This event has grown from a small "get together" of teachers sharing their experiences and lessons with Moodle to over 300 teachers sharing great lessons from their classroom with all types of technologies!

It is an event founded on the belief of knowledge should be open and free...we all become better when we share! It is a free one day event, during which teachers share with teachers, their best classroom practices.

That said...we would like expand the Summit this year to include opportunities to share teaching strategies that are not dependent on technology.

This year, we would like to include new “strands!” In the past, we have featured threads that focused on Moodle, Smart Products and Technology Management.

This year, we would like to offer the following strands of focus…

  • General Educational Technology - The focus of this strand will be on how technology can add value to your everyday teaching and learning. Ideas and activities will come from a variety of grade levels and subject areas.
  • Statistics - This strand will focus on ideas to support statistics instruction. We will discuss content, resources, best practices, pedagogy, scoring AP problems, etc. Ideally session will be for both new and experienced statistics teachers. Various hardware, software and instructional strategies will provide concrete examples of how to improve student achievement in statistics.
  • PBL - Educators engaged in Problem-based learning understand that management and implementation are two of the biggest hurdles in providing a quality PBL experience. Teacher-designed assessment tools and learning opportunities utilizing technology will be shared covering multiple grade levels and subject areas.

When:
August 15th, 2014

Location:
New Albany Middle School
7600 East Dublin-Granville Rd.

Time:
8:00 - 4:00

The event is only made possible when teachers are willing to share what they know. WE NEED YOU TO PRESENT!

The goal each year is to gather enough presenters that would make it possible for each person to only have to share 1 or 2 sessions. In past years, we have had over 30 presenters! Hopefully that number will grow this year. We always attempt to make sure that the presenters feel comfortable by not requiring handouts and reminding participants of the spirit of the day and that the workshop is FREE! It is a great opportunity for teachers to present for the first time in a low key environment!

How do I attend? Simply fill out the Sign Up Form on the tab listed at the top of this page.

If you are able to present, you will receive another email within the next couple of weeks asking for more information.

If you are unable to present this year, we will keep encouraging you, but probably will NOT send out any confirmations until later in the summer.

We look forward to seeing you all in August!
